In early May 2025, the Bauchi State Government formally dispatched 2,520 Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj exercise, marking the beginning of the state’s coordinated religious engagement for the year.

The announcement was made during a farewell ceremony held at the Sultan Saad International Hajj Camp.

Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by Deputy Governor Mohammed Auwal Jatau, addressed the pilgrims and highlighted the government’s commitment to their welfare and safety.

Accommodation, Transport, and Health Preparedness

According to the governor’s statement, all pilgrims from the state will be lodged in accommodation located in close proximity to the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) in Makkah to facilitate easier access during rites.

Max Air Limited has been officially contracted to handle the airlift of pilgrims from Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport to King Muhammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madina.

All pilgrims have undergone mandatory vaccinations against meningitis and yellow fever, while a government-sponsored medical team will accompany the delegation to provide first aid and other healthcare services.

Call for Discipline and Unity

Governor Mohammed advised the pilgrims to maintain dignity and represent the state honorably throughout the Hajj exercise.

He also urged them to pray for peace, unity, and religious tolerance in Bauchi and across Nigeria.

“I congratulate you for being among the fortunate ones selected to perform the 2025 Hajj,” the governor said.

Pilgrims Welfare Board Confirms Readiness

The executive secretary of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Imam Abdurrahman Ibrahim, commended the state government for its continued support.

He confirmed that logistics related to feeding, accommodation, and transportation had been finalized and that all officials involved in the operation had undergone training to ensure effective coordination.
