Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Disowns Viral Audio Alleging Blackmail Against Akpabio
Kogi Central’s suspended senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has firmly denied any connection to a viral audio and video clip accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of blackmailing President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released Wednesday in Abuja, Akpoti-Uduaghan described the material as a maliciously doctored fabrication designed to discredit her and destabilize the National Assembly’s leadership.
“The Voice Isn’t Mine | It Was Cloned,” Natasha Declares
Reacting to the online circulation of the clip where a woman allegedly discusses political manipulation within the Senate, the Kogi senator dismissed the content as a dangerous abuse of technology.
“I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from this video and audio recording. At no time did I grant such an interview or hold any such conversation. The voice in the recording is not mine — it has been cloned and manipulated with clear malicious intent,” her statement read.
She went on to describe the materials as part of a “calculated attempt to mislead the public, damage my reputation, and stir division” within Nigeria’s federal institutions.
Legal Response Underway
Natasha also confirmed that her legal team and relevant security agencies have been instructed to trace the source of the manipulated media.
She emphasized that those responsible must be “held accountable” for spreading falsehoods.
“It is not only mischievous and criminal but also a dangerous abuse of technology,” she added.
Standing Firm | “I Remain Committed to Truth and Justice”
Despite her suspension, the senator reaffirmed her dedication to democratic principles, urging citizens and the media to reject smear campaigns and focus on nation-building.
Finally!
This incident underscores a growing concern in Nigerian politics: the weaponization of deepfake technology and misinformation.
Whether politically motivated or otherwise, such digital manipulations are not just reputational attacks; they are threats to democratic discourse.
As investigations unfold, public scrutiny remains crucial. In the age of AI-generated content, verification has never been more essential.
